How had Yayasan Sime Darby scholarship changed your life?
"After completing my Certificate in Heavy Equipment from Sime Darby Industrial Academy in 2011, I commenced working at Sime Darby Industrial - Tractors Malaysia as a mechanic and electrician in heavy equipment maintenance for 2 years, before working in Baker Hughes, an international energy technology company. I am currently a field mechanic in Baker Hughes for the process and pipeline services, working on various projects owned by local and international oil and gas giants such as Shell, Chevron and Petronas. Coming from a single-parent B40 household, I have certainly come a long way."

"The YSD scholarship breathes life into my dream. It is much more than being able to study for free for a year but also about how much it has changed my life. Initially, financial limitations deterred me from pursuing an MBA degree but I was fortunate to be offered the YSD scholarship which makes yesterday's dream today's reality."

"Not being born with a silver spoon in my mouth, I was ecstatic to have received a fully-sponsored scholarship that allowed me to pursue my dreams without being weighed down by the financial burden of university tuition, cost of living in a foreign country and whatnot. Without the YSD's assistance, I never would have thought that I would be in a position to receive top-notch education from a prestigious university abroad."

How had Yayasan Sime Darby scholarship changed your life?
"I had a chance to pursue my tertiary education in Universiti Malaysia Kelantan under the YSD Employee's Children Education Programme (ECEP) in 2016. Raised in an estate environment at Ladang Raja Musa, Kuala Selangor, I felt encouraged and more confident in pursuing my tertiary studies. I have always wanted to make my parents proud. The scholarship means a lot for students from underprivileged backgrounds and Yayasan Sime Darby is always there for the students who need help."

"Everyone goes through hardships in life. As for my story, the untimely demise of my parents did not stop me from pursuing my dreams. As the eldest sister, I need to carry the responsibilities of supporting my siblings emotionally, physically and financially. YSD gives me hope by alleviating my financial burden and allowing me to focus on my goals, not the obstacles. I am immensely grateful for this opportunity to receive this scholarship as I am able to fully concentrate in my studies without having to worry about financial woes."
