Ford Philanthropy, Yayasan Sime Darby and MyFundAction collaborate to introduce Ford Mobile Clinic in Malaysia
Ara Damansara, 12 March 2025
The Ford Mobile Clinic is a part of Auto ConneXion’s focus to improving access to healthcare and providing essential services in rural communities. In collaboration between Ford Philanthropy, Yayasan Sime Darby and MyFundAction, it aligns and supports the Malaysian government’s efforts where access to regular clinics is limited. The Ford Mobile Clinic aims to serve up to 9,000 patients annually, who live in underserved areas such as agricultural regions, traditional villages and Orang Asli settlements, mainly in Kelantan, Perak, Pahang, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.
Dato’ Jeffri Salim Davidson, Group CEO of Sime and Yayasan Sime Darby Council Member, said, “Healthcare is a basic human right, yet access remains a challenge, even until today, for many in rural and remote areas due to distance, financial constraints and limited facilities. No one should have to travel long hours and distances to see a doctor nor suffer in silence due to a lack of medical care. We’re honoured to introduce the Ford Mobile Clinic, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact this will bring to healthcare accessibility and community wellbeing.”
Auto ConneXion, the sole Authorised Ford Distributor in Malaysia, serves as the facilitator of this project. This initiative was made possible through AutoConneXion’s collaboration with Ford Philanthropy as part of the Ford Fund Project for CSR activities in the market.
To support the initiative, Auto ConneXion and Yayasan Sime Darby donated a Ford Ranger, while Ford Philanthropy complemented with a contribution of USD 55,000 (approximately RM 250,000) for the setup, modification of the vehicle and mobile clinic operations costs.
Jane Holloway, Senior Manager of Ford Philantrophy, shared “We remain steadfast in our mission to support community welfare and healthcare essentials. Our goal is to reach more communities, ensuring that no one is beyond the reach of healthcare services. By working hand in hand with our local partners, this initiative will bridge gaps in community health, fostering greater equity and improving health access nationwide.”
A key aspect of the mobile clinic is MyFundAction’s mobilisation of a network of healthcare professionals and volunteers who are integral to delivering medical services to the remote communities including outpatient care, emergency support, health screenings, group immunisations and infectious disease awareness campaigns, as well as medication for minor ailments. The clinic is also to promote health education and encourage proactive health management within the communities. Aside from treating illnesses, it also prevents them by ensuring early diagnosis and timely medical intervention for communities in need.
Dr. Ghafur Rahim Mustakim, Chief Executive Officer of MyFundAction, said, “Our collaboration with Ford Philantrophy and Yayasan Sime Darby has been truly transformative, allowing us to drive meaningful change in underserved communities. I’d like to thank our partners for their generous support in providing essential resources and helping us expand access to rural areas, reaching more individuals and families. We are confident that, together, we will empower communities for a brighter future.”
