In these uncertain times, arts practitioners and institutions all over the world are suffering due to travel restrictions and social distancing measures, imposed to curb COVID-19. Malaysia’s creative industry, which contributes approximately 2% towards the country’s GDP, is not spared.

The Environment, Sports and Arts & Culture projects team at Yayasan Sime Darby (YSD) talks about the Foundation’s continuous efforts to assist the local arts industry during this time. This includes a collaboration with CENDANA and Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac) last year to sponsor food aid for 150 art practitioners, as well as continued one-off sponsorships of up to RM25,000 per application for local arts, creative and cultural practitioners.
